Workflow Trigger: Contact Tag
Tags are a fantastic way to categorize your contacts in Stack. By tagging contacts, you can easily search, browse, and organize them, making your contact management more efficient. Tags also enable you to automate actions like sending bulk emails or SMS messages.
How Tags Can Trigger a Workflow
In this guide, we'll explore how adding or removing a tag can trigger a workflow in Stack.
What Does the Contact Tag Workflow Trigger Do?
The Contact Tag workflow trigger monitors your contacts for any changes in tags. You can configure it to activate when a tag is added, removed, or both. This flexibility allows you to automate processes based on your specific needs.
How Tags Get Added or Removed
Tags can be added or removed in several ways, each of which can trigger a workflow if set up with the Contact Tag trigger.
Manually via the Contacts List
To manage tags manually:
- Navigate to your Contacts List.
- Select the contact(s) you wish to modify.
- Click on the Add Tag button to apply a new tag.
- Use the Remove Tag button to delete an existing tag.
Through a Workflow
Workflows in Stack can automatically add or remove tags as part of their actions. When a contact reaches a tag-related step in a workflow, the specified tag is added or removed accordingly.
Using Third-Party Integration Tools
Third-party tools like Zapier can add tags to your contacts in Stack. These tools facilitate actions in Stack based on events in other applications. Note that tags can only be added, not removed, through this method.
During a CSV Import
Tags can be added during the CSV import process:
- Include a tags column in your CSV file, listing the tags for each contact.
- Separate multiple tags with commas within the same cell.
Note: CSV imports can also update tags for existing contacts if the "Allow Duplicate Contacts" option is disabled and the email and phone number match existing records.
By understanding these processes, you can effectively use tags to streamline and automate your contact management in Stack.
