In Stack, you have the ability to manage contact information dynamically using workflow actions like Update Contact Field and Clear Field Data. These actions are designed to help you keep your contact information accurate and up-to-date.

What is the Update Contact Field Action?

The Update Contact Field action allows you to change the value of a specific contact field. You can replace the current value with a new one, whether it's a static value you define or a dynamic value generated within the workflow. This action is particularly useful for keeping your contact data relevant and personalized.

What is the Clear Field Data Action?

The Clear Field Data action lets you reset a contact field to its default, empty state. This is useful for removing outdated or incorrect information from your contact records. Currently, this action is supported for Contact Custom Fields only.

How to Use These Actions

Selecting Update/Clear Field Data

Update Field Data

To update a contact field:

  1. Add the Update Contact Field action to your workflow.
  2. Choose the contact field you wish to update.
  3. Specify the new value, which can be static or dynamically generated.

For instance, to update a "Lead Source" field, you might set a static value like "Website" or a dynamic value based on the lead's referral source.

Clear Field Data

To clear a contact field:

  1. Add the Update Contact Field action to your workflow.
  2. Select the contact field you want to clear.
  3. Execute the workflow to reset the field to an empty value.

Note: The clear field data feature is applicable only to Contact Custom Fields. Use this feature cautiously to avoid losing important data. Always ensure you have a backup before clearing fields.
