Recurring tasks in Stack are a powerful way to automate your workflow by setting tasks to repeat at specific intervals. This feature helps you manage tasks efficiently without the need to recreate them manually each time.

Frequency Settings

You can customize how often a task should repeat to fit your needs. Choose from the following intervals:

  • Hourly
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Yearly

End Date Options

Decide when your recurring task should stop:

  • Never: The task will continue indefinitely.
  • Custom Date: Set a specific date for the task to end.
  • After a Set Number of Occurrences: Specify the number of times the task should repeat.

Create Even if Previous Task is Overdue

Enable this option to ensure that the next instance of the task is created on schedule, even if previous tasks are incomplete or overdue.

You can update an existing task to repeat at set intervals, transforming it into a recurring task.

Modify a recurring task by applying changes to all future occurrences or just a single instance, depending on your requirements.

Choose to delete all upcoming tasks in a series or just a specific occurrence.

Restore Deleted Tasks

If you accidentally delete a task, you can restore it. Note that recurrences during the deleted period will not be recreated.

How to Use Recurring Tasks

  1. Open the Add New Task Modal: Access this from the Tasks, Contacts, or Companies page.

  2. Enter Task Details: Fill in the task name, description, and any other relevant information.

  3. Set Recurrence:

    • Toggle on the Recurring Task option.
    • In the Repeats Every field, specify the frequency (e.g., every 1 day, every 2 weeks).
    • Choose an end date using the Ends On options:
      • Never
      • Custom Date
      • After a set number of occurrences
    • Optionally, check the setting to Create a new task even if the previous one is overdue to keep tasks on schedule.
  4. Assign Task: Select an Assignee and, if relevant, a Contact to assign the task.

  5. Save the Task: Click Save to create the task and initiate the recurrence schedule.
