Resolving Fingerprint Issues in Order Forms on WordPress
If you're encountering a fingerprint error in your order form on WordPress, you might see an error message indicating a problem. This can typically occur under two scenarios:
Scenario 1: Browser-Specific Issues
This issue might arise on some customers' browsers due to specific browser settings that prevent cookie access.
Solution:
- Quick Fix: Advise customers to update their browser settings to enable cookie access.
- Long-Term Fix: We are working on a feature that will warn users when cookies cannot be accessed.
Scenario 2: Domain Configuration Issues
If the issue occurs consistently across all devices and browsers, it likely indicates a problem with the funnel domain configuration.
Solution:
When using a WordPress-hosted website and our order form funnel as a separate path, ensure that:
- The WordPress website domain and the funnel domain are the same, but the subdomains differ. For example, if your WordPress site uses
www.example.com, thenexample.comis your domain andwwwis the subdomain. Avoid usingwww.example.comorexample.comas the funnel domain. Instead, use a different subdomain likefunnels.example.com.
Why Same Domain?
Our implementation uses an iFrame to render the funnel page within WordPress. For payment processing, browser cookies are required, and browsers do not allow cookie access across different domains.
Steps to Add a Domain in Funnel
- Navigate to Settings -> Domains and add the same domain as your WordPress website, but with a different subdomain. Ensure no other website is hosted on this subdomain.
- Go to Funnel Settings for the funnel you wish to use in WordPress. Configure the domain and save your changes.
- Verify that the funnel is successfully connected and operational with the new subdomain.
Steps to Fix an Existing Funnel in WordPress
- Open your LeadConnector WP settings and perform a hard refresh if the page is already open.
- Click the API Key save button.
- Click the edit button for the funnel page you want to fix.
- Wait for the page to load completely, and the steps will fill automatically.
- You should see the WordPress website domain (with a different subdomain) in the preview URL. Click the save button to finalize changes.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the fingerprint issue in your order forms on WordPress. If you continue to experience problems, consider reaching out for further assistance.
