How to Authorize Card Payments Using the Older Website Builder
Overview
In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to authorize card payments using the older version of Stack's website builder. This process ensures that funds are available before a subscription or payment plan begins.
How Authorization Works
Authorization is a process that temporarily holds funds from a client's bank account to verify their availability. Here's how it works:
- The specified "authorized amount" is temporarily deducted from the client's account.
- If the account lacks sufficient funds, the authorization will not proceed.
- Once authorized, the funds are credited back to the account, which may take up to 5 business days.
- Authorization is applicable only to Subscriptions and Payment Plans.
- If your plan includes "Trial days," they will commence once the card is authorized.
Note: To authorize payments for multiple plans, you will need to repeat this process for each plan.
Steps to Authorize Card Payments
-
Locate the Order Form:
- Navigate to the website section where your order form is located.
- Click on the "three dots" menu.
-
Access Products:
- Select "Products" from the menu.
- If no products are visible, ensure they are added before proceeding.
-
Edit Product Settings:
- Click the "Edit" icon next to the product you wish to modify.
- For example, if you have a monthly plan ($149) and an annual plan ($1490), start with the monthly plan and repeat for the annual plan.
-
Authorize Card:
- Click on "Authorize Card."
- Enter the dollar amount you wish to authorize. Remember, this amount will be temporarily deducted from the client's account. For instance, authorizing "$1" will deduct and then refund "$1."
-
Set Currency:
- Click on "Currency" and select your preferred currency.
- For this example, choose "USD."
-
Update Settings:
- Click "Update" to save your changes.
By following these steps, you can ensure that funds are authorized and available before initiating a subscription or payment plan on Stack.
