How to Authorize Card Payments in Funnels

Overview​

In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of setting up card payment authorizations in Stack's funnel builder. This feature is available in Version 2 of the funnel builder.

How Authorization Works​

Authorization is an optional feature that requires a few extra steps to set up. Here's how it functions:

  • Temporary Charge: The system temporarily deducts the specified "authorize amount" from the client's bank account.
  • Funds Check: If the account lacks sufficient funds during this process, the client cannot proceed to the next step.
  • Refund Process: Once authorization is approved, the deducted amount is refunded to the client's account. This refund can take up to 5 business days.
  • Trial Activation: Any trial days associated with the plan begin as soon as the card is authorized.

Note: This feature is only applicable to subscriptions and payment plans. If you wish to authorize payments for multiple plans, you'll need to repeat the process for each plan.

Authorization Setup​

Follow these steps to set up payment authorization in your funnel:

  1. Access Products:

    • Navigate to the funnel step containing your order form and click on "Products."
    • If no products are visible, ensure you add them before proceeding.

  2. Edit Product Settings:

    • Click the "Edit" icon next to the product you wish to authorize.
    • For example, if you have a monthly plan ($149) and an annual plan ($1490), start with one and repeat for the other.

  3. Configure Authorization:

    • Scroll to the bottom and click on "Additional Options."
    • In the "Custom Authorization" field, enter the amount to be authorized.

    Important Considerations:

    • The amount entered will be temporarily deducted from the client's account.
    • Ensure the amount is at least $1, uses two decimal places, and is not negative.

    Example: The system will deduct $1 from the client's account and refund it later.

  4. Save Changes:

    • Click "Save" to apply your changes.

By following these steps, you can successfully set up card payment authorizations in your Stack funnels, ensuring a smooth and secure transaction process for your clients.
