How to Quickly Add and Edit Custom Fields in Forms and Surveys

We are thrilled to introduce the Quick Add Fields & Edit Custom Fields feature in Stack's form and survey builder. This update streamlines the process of adding and managing custom fields, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

What's New?​

Quick Add Custom Fields​

Previously, adding custom fields involved several steps through a modal. Now, with the Quick Add feature, you can effortlessly create custom fields by simply dragging and dropping them into your form.

Draggable Custom Fields​

You can now drag and drop the following types of custom fields:

  • Radio Select
  • Single and Multi Dropdown
  • Checkbox
  • File Upload
  • Single Line
  • Multi Line
  • Textbox List
  • Date Picker
  • Number
  • Monetary

Customization Options​

Customize dropdowns, radio buttons, and checkboxes, including file input options for file upload fields. You can also set the custom field name and unique key.

Simplified Workflow​

Saving your form or survey will automatically save the custom fields, making them accessible across all areas.

Editing Capabilities​

Edit properties of both new and existing custom fields. You can adjust options like editing, ordering, and deleting, as well as file input options.

To edit a custom field:

  1. Click on the custom field within the form or survey builder.
  2. A navigation bar will appear on the right side.
  3. Use the options in the General Settings and Advanced Settings dropdowns to make the necessary changes.

Field Locking​

Once the form or survey is saved, the custom field name and unique key are locked. They can be edited from the custom fields section if needed.

How It Works​

  • Drag and Drop: Simply drag and drop the desired field into your form.
  • Customize: Adjust options for dropdowns, radio buttons, checkboxes, and file inputs. Set the custom field name and unique key if required.
  • Save: Save your form or survey to ensure custom fields are available everywhere.
  • Edit: Modify properties of new or existing custom fields from the custom fields section and save the changes.

Why This Feature?​

The Quick Add Custom Fields feature is designed to save you time and reduce the complexity of managing custom fields. By allowing you to add fields on-the-fly, we aim to enhance your overall experience and improve workflow efficiency.

Removing Outdated or Irrelevant Custom Fields​

If you notice outdated custom fields in your form builder, they may still be present in your CRM’s custom fields list. To completely remove them:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Custom Fields.
  2. Locate the outdated field in the list.
  3. Click the Trash icon to permanently delete it.

Warning: Deleting a custom field from this section will remove it from all forms, surveys, and contacts where it was used.
