Enhancing Your Chat Widget with Custom Fields
The Stack Chat Widget now offers exciting customization options by allowing you to add custom fields to your contact form. This feature enhances the way you collect information during interactions via SMS, Email, and WhatsApp, tailoring the experience to better suit your business needs.
What You Can Do
Custom Field Addition
In addition to standard fields, you can now incorporate custom fields within the chat widget builder. This flexibility enables you to gather more specific information from your customers.
Standard Fields
The chat widget supports the following standard fields:
- Name (mandatory)
- Phone or Email (at least one is required to create contacts; Phone is the default if removed)
- Message
Supported Custom Field Types
You can add custom fields of the following types:
- TEXT
- MONETARY
- PHONE
- NUMERIC
- LARGE TEXT
- DATE
Field Limitations
You can include up to a total of 5 fields, combining both standard and custom fields. Remember, either a Phone or Email field is mandatory.
Field Validation & Mandatory Fields
- Standard Fields: Name, Phone, Email, and Message are always mandatory.
- Custom Fields: These are optional unless data is entered. Validation rules apply:
- Phone fields are validated by country code.
- Email fields must be in a correct email format.
Phone Field Internationalization
If you have multiple phone number fields, the chat widget allows users to select a country code for international formatting. Note that only one country flag can be selected across all phone fields. Changing the country flag in one field will update it in all phone fields.
With these enhancements, you can tailor your chat widget to better capture the information you need, improving customer interactions and data collection.
