Import Your Blog Posts with Stack

Effortlessly bring your blog posts into Stack from any platform using the Blog Importer. This tool allows for a seamless migration of blog content, including categories and authors, as long as the blog's sitemap is publicly accessible.

Key Features

  1. Simple 3-Step Process

    • Add the blog URL and the URL of a recent blog post to scan and preview the content.
    • Note: If the iframe is blocked, the preview won't display, but the import functionality will still work.
  2. Mapping Breakdown

    • Easily map the blog title, categories/tags, featured images, publication date, content, and author from the preview.
  3. Review and Publish

    • Review your content and publish it when you're ready! 😊

Pre-checks

Before you start, ensure your blog has a sitemap for posts. For instance, if your blog is at blog.abc.com, check for a sitemap at blog.abc.com/sitemap.xml.

How It Works

Step 1: Setup Your Import

  • Navigate to Sites > Blog.
  • Click on the blog name.
  • Go to New Post > Import Blog Post.
  • Enter the blog URL and the URL of the last published blog post.
  • Choose the platform you're importing from.

Tip: After setting up, you can return to see the "Scan in Progress" status in the "Imported Content" section.

Step 2: Map Content

  • Select the blog title, publication date, author name, content, and categories/tags.
  • Note: If the mapping is incorrect, you can manually adjust it using CSS selectors.

Step 3: Import Content

Once the scraping is complete (typically 10-20 minutes for 1,000 posts), you can import each post individually or in bulk. All posts will initially be imported as drafts.

Recommendation: Preview your blog post before publishing it live.

Supported Platforms

FAQ

Q: I imported my blog site, but the blogs are not showing up. Where are they?

  • If the blog's sitemap doesn't have a URL, blogs cannot be imported.
  • Currently, the system displays 'Scan in Progress' during a 'Failure' state, which may result in a blank page upon clicking.
