Viewing Traffic Source for Web Chat Conversations

Understanding where your web chat conversations originate can provide valuable insights into your audience's behavior. Here's how you can view the traffic source for conversations initiated via the Stack Live Chat widget.

Viewing Chat Widget Source on the Contact Detail Page

When someone starts a conversation using the Live Chat widget, this interaction is logged in the Activity Tab on the Contact Detail page within Contacts.

  • To see more details about the source of the chat, click the clipboard icon. This will display the initial message submitted through the Chat Widget, along with information about the traffic source, such as Organic Search or Direct Traffic.

Viewing Chat Widget Source in Form Submissions

You can also track the traffic source through form submissions:

  1. Navigate to Marketing.
  2. Select Form Builder.
  3. Go to the Submissions Tab.
  4. From the Form Selector dropdown, choose "Widget Form" under the Chat Widget section.

Important Notes

  • Attribution is functional for Live Chat Widgets added to non-Stack websites, including those using the LeadConnector WordPress Widget.
  • Please note that attribution may not work for some iOS users or any users who have privacy mode enabled, as this setting blocks the necessary cookies.
