What Is Number Intelligence

Number Intelligence is a comprehensive suite of tools designed to optimize how your phone calls and SMS are managed:

  • Spam Detection: Identifies and flags potentially risky incoming calls from unknown U.S. numbers. Calls flagged as "Spam Likely" appear in call logs and conversations, allowing your team to focus on genuine interactions.

  • Name Lookup: Retrieves the name of unknown U.S. callers. This feature enriches your CRM records, enabling personalized call handling.

  • Number Validation: Confirms the validity of phone numbers worldwide before sending the first SMS, ensuring messages are only sent to valid numbers. This validation occurs when an SMS is queued, not during contact import or creation. If a number is identified as a landline, the SMS is not sent.

Benefits of Number Intelligence

  • Reduce Wasted Time: Minimize interruptions from spam calls, allowing your team to focus on real opportunities.
  • Increase Call Answer Rates: Direct attention to genuine calls, improving response times.
  • Enhance Customer Satisfaction: Personalize interactions by greeting leads with their names.
  • Boost SMS Delivery Rates: Maintain healthy communication metrics by ensuring messages reach valid numbers.

Managing Number Intelligence

To manage Number Intelligence in Stack, navigate to Settings > Phone Numbers > Advanced Settings > Number Intelligence. Use the toggle switch to enable or disable the feature. Note that all components—Spam Detection, Name Lookup, and Number Validation—are activated or deactivated together.

Number Intelligence Pricing

  • Spam Detection: $0.005 per call from unknown U.S. numbers. This applies to all incoming calls from numbers not saved in your contacts.

  • Name Lookup: $0.01 per call from unknown U.S. numbers. This service retrieves the caller's name when the number is not saved or the contact name is incomplete.

  • Number Validation: $0.005 per validation. This is applicable to numbers worldwide and is charged only when an SMS is queued for sending.

Call Handling with Spam Detection

Calls identified as spam are marked “Spam Likely” on the web dialer and tagged in the Contacts tab, ensuring transparency and efficient call management.

FAQs

Q: What happens if I disable Number Intelligence?
A: Disabling this feature stops spam detection, name lookups, and SMS validations. Calls and SMS will continue as usual, but spam may not be flagged, and names for unknown callers will not be displayed. SMS delivery rates might decrease due to attempts to send messages to invalid numbers.

Q: Can I customize which features of Number Intelligence are enabled?
A: Currently, all three features—Spam Detection, Name Lookup, and Number Validation—are activated or deactivated together.

Q: Does this feature work outside the USA?
A: Spam Detection and Name Lookup are specific to U.S. numbers. However, SMS validation is available worldwide.

Q: How does the system handle spam calls?
A: Spam calls are flagged as “Spam Likely” and appear in call logs and conversations. You can add these numbers to an inbound DND list to prevent further calls.

Q: Will I be notified of spam calls?
A: Yes, spam calls are tagged as “Spam Likely” in your call logs and the Contacts tab, keeping you informed.
