Understanding Subscription Statuses
The status of a subscription provides insight into its current state. Here’s a breakdown:
| Status | Stripe | PayPal |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | trialing | |
| Active | active | active |
| Canceled | canceled | canceled |
| Suspended | suspended | |
| Failed | incomplete_expired | |
| Incomplete | incomplete, past_due | approval pending, approved |
| Unpaid | unpaid | |
| Expired | expired |
For more details on what these statuses mean, refer to the documentation for Stripe and PayPal.
Synchronization with Stripe and PayPal
-
Stripe: Subscription statuses and payments are kept in sync with your Stripe dashboard. Any changes made in Stripe, such as cancellations, will reflect on the Subscriptions page.
-
PayPal: Currently, subscriptions created via PayPal do not sync status updates or capture upcoming payments on the Subscriptions page. However, the subscription entry will still be created for tracking purposes.
Handling Failed Payments
If a payment fails during the initial subscription setup via the order form, it will not appear on the Subscriptions page. However, the contact will still be created and can be tracked through both 1-step and 2-step order forms.
Exclusions from the Subscriptions Page
The following are not listed on the Subscriptions page:
- Recurring templates from the Invoices section
- Subscriptions created within the Memberships section
