Magic Links in Memberships (Courses)

Have you ever needed to quickly help someone access their membership but they lost their password or can't figure out how to log in? Magic links in Stack memberships are your one-click solution. These links provide the fastest way to get users into your membership courses when they forget their username or password.

A magic link allows users to bypass the traditional login process using a username and password. Once clicked, clients can access the products they've been granted access to without any hassle. This is particularly useful for membership sites where sharing valuable content with users should be seamless.

  1. Navigate to Memberships > Courses > Settings.
  2. Go to Site Details.
  3. If no magic link exists, click Regenerate Magic Link.
  4. Once generated, click Copy to save it to your clipboard.

Ideal for sharing with contacts, especially in emails.

Only learner magic links can be sent using workflows and emails. Consider sending learner magic links in these scenarios:

  • Granting course access to a new user.
  • Providing offer access to an existing user.
  • New user signup for a course.
  1. Go to workflows and set up a course trigger. Learner magic links work with all course triggers (e.g., Category Started, Lesson Completed, New Sign Up).
  2. Add an action like email or SMS, selecting the Login URL (Magic Link).

You can send magic links in email campaigns by using the Login URL (Magic Link) custom value.

Troubleshooting​

Yes, if you generate a new magic link, older ones will become invalid.

Yes, the contact must have a membership offer granted to them for the magic link to function.

If testing reveals access to all courses, ensure you're not logged in with elevated privileges. For accurate testing, open the magic link in an incognito window.
