Publishing Evergreen Content with Category Queue in Stack

What is a Category Queue?

A Category Queue in Stack is a fantastic tool for managing your evergreen content. It allows you to recycle both existing and upcoming posts tagged under a specific category, enabling continuous content publishing across your platforms. Instead of scheduling individual posts, you can schedule an entire category. The system will cycle through these posts, and once all have been published, it will start over.

How Does It Work?

Getting Started

Before you begin, ensure you have a collection of published posts tagged under a category. These will be used to create your new category queue.

Steps to Create a Category Queue

  1. Navigate to the New Post Button
Click on the Category Queue option.

  2. Select a Category
Choose the category you want to use for your queue.

  3. Enable Preferences

    • Enable Future Posting: This option includes any upcoming content added to the queue.
    • Prioritise Content: This option places new content at the front of the queue for immediate publishing.
  4. Set Posting Schedule
Select the days and times you prefer for your posts to be published.

  5. Edit Content
Review and make any necessary edits to the media or content of the posts.

  6. Fix Errors
Address any caution, error, or warning messages that appear.

  7. Queue Your Posts

    • If there are no errors, click Queue Post to schedule your posts.
    • If errors are present, click Queue Post to save as a draft, or click Cancel to save your progress for future editing.

Managing Your Category Queue

  • Pause or Resume: You can pause or resume the category queue anytime from the 'Content' tab by toggling the switch.
  • Delete the Queue: If needed, delete the category queue using the three dots icon.

Important Points to Note

  • Category queues can be created using already published content tagged to a specific category.
  • You can pause or resume the queues as needed to fit your content strategy.
  • If you no longer want the content to be published, you can delete the queue.
  • You can edit or update the content of previously published posts while creating the category queue.
  • Currently, you cannot edit or reschedule the category queue for a different timeframe once created.
