Editing Meta Ad Campaigns in Stack

Understanding how to edit your live or in-review Meta ad campaigns is crucial for optimizing performance and ensuring your ads remain relevant. This guide will walk you through the process of making changes in Stack's Ad Manager.

Why Edit a Published Campaign?

Editing a live campaign allows you to:

  • Adapt to Real-Time Data: Make adjustments based on performance metrics and market conditions.
  • Correct Initial Errors: Fix any mistakes made during the initial setup.
  • Optimize Performance: Use insights from key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance your campaign.
  • Respond to Feedback: Improve ad content or audience targeting dynamically.
  • Save Time: Make minor adjustments without pausing and recreating a campaign.

This functionality empowers you to refine campaigns for better results without disrupting ongoing efforts.

How to Edit a Published or In-Review Campaign

You can now edit details of live campaigns or those in the 'In Review' state. Here's how:

  1. Access Ad Manager: Go to the Ad Manager home page where all your campaigns are listed.
  2. Select Your Campaign: Find the live or in-review campaign you wish to edit.
  3. Edit the Campaign: Click on the Edit option in the inline ellipsis menu for the campaign.
  4. Make Changes: The campaign builder screen will open, allowing you to modify permitted fields.

Note: After changes, an "Unpublished Changes" tag will appear at the top right of the screen.

Editable Fields in a Published Campaign

You can modify the following fields in your published campaigns:

  • Campaign Name
  • CTA Button: Update the call-to-action button.
  • Lead Generation Form: Switch or create a new form if the objective is Lead Generation.
  • Website: Change the URL if the objective is Website Traffic.
  • Special Ad Category: Add or modify the category.
  • Placements: Update ad display locations.
  • Ad Text and Media: Revise ad content and visuals.
  • Budget: Adjust the campaign's budget.
  • Geographic Location: Modify targeted areas.
  • Target Audience: Change interests, lookalike, or retargeting settings.
  • End Date: Update if a lifetime budget is selected.

Non-Editable Fields in Published/In-Review Campaigns

Certain fields cannot be changed once a campaign is published:

  • Campaign Objective
  • Facebook Page: The page associated with the campaign.
  • Start Date
  • Budget Type: Cannot switch between Daily and Lifetime budgets.

Discarding Changes to a Published Campaign

To revert your campaign to its original state without applying changes:

  1. Click the Back button at the top left of the campaign builder screen.
  2. When prompted, select Discard to ignore the changes and keep the original campaign intact.

Publishing Changes to Your Ad Campaign

To apply and publish your edits:

  1. After making changes, click the Publish Ad Now button on the review page.
  2. Confirm the changes in the dialog that appears.
  3. The campaign will move to the "In Review" state. Facebook will review the changes, and once approved, the updated campaign will go live.

Note: If there are errors in your edits, the campaign status will change to Failed, with reasons displayed next to the status in the tooltip.
