Step 1: Add Your Domain

To add your domain in Stack, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings in your Stack account.
  2. Go to Email Services.
  3. Select Dedicated Domain and IP.
  4. Click on + Add Domain.
  5. Enter the domain you wish to use in the "Enter domain name" field.
  6. Click Add & Verify.

Tip: Using a subdomain can improve email deliverability.

Step 2: Verify Your Domain

You have two options to verify your domain: automatically through your DNS provider or by setting it up manually.

Option 1: Auto Configure DNS

This is the simplest way to verify and authenticate your domain using Stack's built-in connection with popular DNS providers.

  1. Click Continue on the next screen.
  2. Stack will attempt to detect your DNS provider and guide you to their platform.
  3. Log in to your DNS provider. The login process will vary depending on your provider.
  4. Follow any additional prompts, such as entering a confirmation code.
  5. Click Authorize on your DNS provider's page.

Note: If Stack cannot identify your DNS provider, you will see the necessary DNS records to add manually.

Once the DNS changes propagate (usually within 1 to 10 minutes), your domain will show a Verified status.

Tip: If you have already set a DMARC policy on your root domain, you can skip adding it for the subdomain.

Option 2: Manual Setup

If automatic configuration isn't possible, you can manually add DNS records:

  1. After adding your domain, view the displayed DNS records.

  2. Use the following information to set up your DNS records with your provider:

    Root Domain Example:

    • Type: TXT, CNAME, MX
    • Name or Hostname: Use "@" if not verified, otherwise use your root domain (e.g., "yourdomain.com").
    • Value or Record: Copy the provided value for each record.
    • TTL: 5 minutes

    Sub-domain Example:

    • Type: TXT, CNAME, MX
    • Name or Hostname: Use the subdomain (e.g., "mail" for mail.yourdomain.com).
    • Value or Record: Copy the provided value for each record.
    • TTL: 5 minutes

Once your records are correctly set, your domain will show a Verified status, and you will be redirected to the Dedicated Domain page to see the active status.

Note: Issuing the SSL certificate may take 1 to 10 minutes after verification.
