Creating Custom Unsubscribe Links in Stack

Custom unsubscribe links allow you to personalize the experience for your contacts when they choose to unsubscribe from your communications. Follow these steps to create and implement a custom unsubscribe link using Stack.

1. Create a Landing Page

First, design a landing page that conveys the message you want your contacts to see when they unsubscribe. This page can provide additional information or simply confirm their choice.

Once your landing page is ready, you'll need to create a Trigger Link that points to this page:

  1. Navigate to Marketing in your Stack dashboard.
  2. Go to Trigger Links.
  3. Click Add Link.
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Name: Unsubscribe Link
    • Link URL: Paste the URL of your unsubscribe landing page here.
  5. Click Save.

In your email settings, replace the default unsubscribe link with the Trigger Link you just created. This will direct users to your custom landing page when they choose to unsubscribe.

4. Set Up a Workflow for Unsubscribes

To automate the process of marking contacts as Do Not Disturb (DND) when they click the unsubscribe link, create a workflow:

  1. Go to Automation.
  2. Select Create Workflow.
  3. Choose Start from Scratch and create a new workflow.
  4. Update the workflow title to Trigger Link Unsubscribe.
  5. Add a new workflow trigger:
    • Search for and select Trigger Link Clicked.
    • Add a filter for Trigger Link and select Unsubscribe Link.
  6. Add a workflow action:
    • Search for Set Contact DND.
    • In the dropdown, choose Enable DND for specific channels and select Email.
  7. Click Save Actions.
  8. Save and publish your workflow.

To ensure the unsubscribe link is accessible in your emails:

  1. Highlight the word or phrase in your email footer where you want the unsubscribe link.
  2. Click the link icon.
  3. Select Unsubscribe Link from the Link list.
  4. Click Save.

Once set up, any contact who clicks the unsubscribe link will be marked as DND for the email channel, ensuring they no longer receive emails from you.
