Managing Custom Object Records in Stack

Welcome to your guide on creating and updating custom object records in Stack. Whether you're handling data for pets, cars, or any other custom entities, this guide will help you manage your custom object records efficiently.

Creating a New Custom Object Record

To create a new custom object record, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Custom Object Type:

    • In the left-hand navigation panel, select the type of custom object you want to work with (e.g., Pets, Cars).
  2. Add a New Record:

    • Click the Add button located at the top right corner of the screen (e.g., “Add Pet”).
  3. Fill in the Required Fields:

    • Enter the necessary information in the form that appears, focusing on the primary field for that object.
  4. Save the Record:

    • After entering the required details, click Save.
    • If you wish to add more records immediately, select Save and Add Another.

You can only add values for the primary fields when creating a custom object record.

Updating an Existing Custom Object Record

To update an existing record, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Custom Object Record:

    • Find and select the record you wish to update from the list of custom objects.
  2. Edit the Required Fields:

    • Click the Edit button to modify the record. You can update fields like text, numeric values, and dropdowns.
  3. Save Changes:

    • Once you've made the necessary updates, click Save to apply them.
    • If you decide not to save the changes, click Cancel.

For some custom objects, you might want to associate other records, such as contacts or products, with them. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the "Related Objects" Section:

    • Open the object record and find the Related Objects section.
  2. Associate New Records:

    • Click Add next to the type of object you want to associate (e.g., Contacts).
    • Search for the related record and click Associate to link it to your custom object.

Deleting a Custom Object Record

To delete a custom object record, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Record:

    • Navigate to and open the record you wish to delete.
  2. Access the Kebab Menu:

    • In the record details view, click the kebab menu (three dots) in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Delete":

    • From the dropdown, choose Delete Record to permanently remove the record.
    • Confirm the deletion in the confirmation modal.

Warning: Deleting a custom object is irreversible. Once deleted, the record cannot be restored.
