What is the Profile Picture Feature?
The profile picture feature in Stack allows you to attach a visual identifier, like a photo or logo, to a contact record. These images appear in the Contacts Smart List and the Conversations inbox. Profile pictures can only be added during the creation of a contact and cannot be changed later. Once uploaded, they help teams quickly recognize contacts.

Current Limitations
While useful, the profile picture feature has some limitations:
- No Post-Creation Edits: You cannot add or update a profile image after creating a contact.
- Display Restrictions: Profile pictures do not appear inside the full contact profile record/tab.
- No Advanced Image Tools: Drag-and-drop or cropping tools are not available.
- API Support: The feature is not yet supported via API.
How to Add Profile Pictures
You can add profile pictures only when creating new contacts. If you need to add a profile picture to an existing contact, create a new contact with the desired image and then merge it with the existing contact.
- Navigate to the Contacts tab.
- Click the ➕ (plus) button to add a new contact.
- In the contact creation window, click the image area labeled “Personal Logo”.
- Upload an image file (max 2.5MB, 512x512px recommended).
- Fill in the contact details and click Save.
Important: Profile pictures cannot be edited later. Ensure the correct image is uploaded during creation.
Viewing Profile Pictures in the Contacts Tab
After creating a contact with a profile image, go to the Contacts Smart List. The uploaded image will appear next to the contact name, making it easier to visually scan and identify contacts.
Viewing Profile Pictures in Conversations
When a contact with an uploaded image participates in a conversation, their image will appear in the left-hand conversation list next to their name and in the right-side contact panel. It will not appear in the middle conversations panel.
