User Permissions in Calendars

Overview

The Calendar module in Stack offers flexible user permissions, allowing you to control who can view and manage various aspects of the calendar system. This ensures users only access data and functionalities relevant to their roles, enhancing security and efficiency.

Types of Permissions

View Permissions

  • View Permissions: Allow users to see specific elements within the calendar module.

Manage Permissions

  • Manage Permissions: Enable users to create, edit, and delete elements within the calendar module.

Assigned Data Access

In addition to general permissions, users may have the Assigned Data option toggled on or off:

  • Assigned Data Enabled: Users can only view appointments and calendars they are specifically assigned to.
  • Assigned Data Disabled: Users can view and manage elements based on their granted permissions, regardless of assignment.

Granular Permission Options

You can specify view and manage permissions at various levels:

View Permissions

Users can be granted view access for:

  • Calendars
  • Appointments
  • Groups

These permissions allow users to access the Calendar module and view the specified elements.

Manage Permissions

Users can be given manage permissions for:

  • Calendars
  • Appointments
  • Groups

With these controls, you can define:

  • Which users have access to the Calendar module.
  • Which parts of the calendar each user can manage.

Example Scenarios

  • User with View Access for Calendars: Can see all calendars but cannot create, edit, or delete them.
  • User with Manage Permissions for Appointments Only: Can create, edit, and delete appointments but cannot modify calendars or groups.
  • User with Assigned Data Enabled and View Permissions for Appointments: Can only see appointments they are assigned to.
