Calendar Availability: Weekly Working Hours & Date-Specific Hours
Overview
In Stack, you can manage your calendar availability using two main settings: Weekly Working Hours and Date-Specific Hours. These options allow you to maintain a consistent weekly schedule while also accommodating unique circumstances on specific dates. Understanding how these settings work together will help you effectively manage your calendar and ensure it reflects your real-time availability.
Weekly Working Hours
Weekly Working Hours are your regular, recurring availability. This setting is perfect for establishing a default schedule that repeats week after week. For example, if you're available every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 AM to 10 PM, you can set these as your weekly working hours. Stack will automatically apply this schedule to those days and times each week.
Date-Specific Hours
Date-Specific Hours let you customize your availability or unavailability for particular dates. This feature is especially useful for handling exceptions like holidays, personal commitments, or special occasions. Here are some examples:
- Holidays: Mark holidays such as Easter or Christmas as unavailable, ensuring your calendar accurately reflects your schedule during these times.
- Personal Commitments: Adjust your availability for specific dates when you have personal commitments. For instance, if you have a doctor's appointment on February 10, 2024, from 12 PM to 3 PM, you can mark yourself as unavailable during that time.
- Extended Availability: For occasions like a long weekend where you want to extend your working hours, use date-specific hours to modify your schedule for those days.
To mark your unavailability, simply select the date and click on the delete icon under the timeslot.
Important Points to Note
- Weekly Hours vs. Date-Specific Hours: Weekly hours define your standard, recurring schedule, while date-specific hours allow for adjustments on selected dates.
- Hierarchy of Hours: Date-Specific Hours take precedence over Weekly Working Hours. If you've set specific hours for a particular date, those will override the default weekly hours for that day.
- Marking Availability/Unavailability: Date-specific hours give you the flexibility to mark both availability and unavailability, providing complete control over your calendar.
By effectively using both Weekly Working Hours and Date-Specific Hours, you can create a flexible and accurate representation of your availability, ensuring a seamless scheduling experience for everyone interacting with your calendar.
