Managing External Connections with Marketplace Apps in Stack

Integrating Stack with third-party applications is a powerful way to enhance your workflow. This guide will help you understand how to manage these external connections effectively.

Understanding the Basics

Connections to third-party apps in Stack are established at the sub-account level. This means each sub-account maintains its own unique connection with the third-party application.

  • Single App Installation: When you install an app that requires a connection to a specific sub-account, you'll be prompted to connect the app immediately after installation.

  • Bulk App Installation: If you're installing an app across multiple sub-accounts, the connection request won't automatically trigger during installation. Users must connect the app individually within each sub-account's marketplace.

Supported Authentication Methods

Stack supports three authentication methods for connecting with third-party apps:

  1. OAuth: Log in to the third-party app and authorize the integration directly.

  2. API Keys: Copy the API key from the third-party app and paste it into Stack.

  3. Basic Auth: Use the username and password credentials of your third-party app.

By understanding these processes and options, you can seamlessly integrate and manage your external app connections within Stack.
